California Imposes Hands-Free Cellphone Use While Driving

July 1, 2008 marks the beginning of the effectivity of a California law requiring drivers to use hand-free devices when talking over cellphones while driving.

Any driver caught holding a cellphone on his ear while driving will be fined. The emphasis here is "while driving". In other words, if a driver is simply parked and is talking on the phone with the cellphone on his ear is exempt from this law.

Using the push-to-talk feature of a phone while driving and holding the phone is also considered illegal. Plus, drivers below 18 years old are not allowed to use any wireless device whether it is hands-free or not.

With todays worsening economic times in the US, it certainly is not worth it to be caught and fined. A driver can be fined for $20.00 on his first offense; subsequent offenses can be fined $50 with additional penalty assessments which can go more than three times.

With the imposition of this law, it certainly can help a driver focus on the road while driving. Perhaps, even possibly lessen traffic accidents on the road.

Perhaps you are driving towards the mountains for a planned camping trip bringing with you your camping gear, and you were tempted to answer a cellphone ringing. Then you put the phone on your ear and along the way you were spotted by a police officer, you still can be cited and fined.

Know the new law and avoid being fined. Besides, you could be saving your own life and even the lives of your passengers including your family from any possible traffic accidents.

Travelling Cheap To Save

In light of all the rising cost of gas and other commodities, it is but practical to really save and to think wisely even when travelling.

Just as my father invited me to watch the latest boxing fight of Pacquiao and Diaz in Las Vegas, I declined while considering the amount of gas I have to spend back and forth. Plus I will have to pay for my hotel stay and food of course.

Whereas, if I simply order with a pay per view to watch privately at my home or to simply go to a friend's house, that would certainly save me a lot. Plus, I can have the luxury of viewing close-up segments of the fight.

But if travelling is a necessity, there is not much we can do about the cost of gas - except to use a car that's energy efficient or considering the cost of flying or riding the bus. But you certainly can be practical enough to stay in cheap motels or budget hotels on a temporary basis. It is therefore wise to research ahead of time for cheap hotel rates online.

On the other hand, if you are simply travelling to see tourist spots or national parks, why not bring any of your camping tents or a backpacking tent. There may be a safe place to pitch your tent - and that would certainly save you from paying hotel or motel expense.

This does not mean that you have to be stingy. It is just a matter of being practical and to stretch the value of your dollar. So be wise and save when you have to travel.

Visiting The Grand Canyon

Have you ever visited the Grand Canyon? If not, let me tell you something, the place really lives up to its name - it is really grand! You just can't believe the enormous beauty of the park.

One tip when you go there, be sure to bring a camera - its worth taking pictures. Plus, the place is so huge that it is also worth bringing along some compact binoculars for you and your family so you can view the distant areas of the park into closer view. If you don't have one yet, you can go to www.xxoutdoors.com where you can own a discount binocular as low as $16.95 like the Humvee 10x25 Binoculars Compact Camo.

By the way, there are two different entry points to the park. The north entrance and the south entrance. Just choose which one is closer to you. But to those who have been there several times, they say the southern park has more beautiful scenery to see.

Happy viewing and visiting at the Grand Canyon.

EXTRA Fun Outdoors

Outdoor activities are indeed highly recommended to give you relief from stress of city life and work. Travelling outdoors should be fun. But it would not be fun when there are things that you may have forgotten to bring along.

I remember going to a camping only to forget bringing with me an insect repellant. That was not fun. Of course, you need any camping gear to enjoy camping isn't it? But there are just things that can contribute to extra fun when you go outdoors.

Example, my family went camping with our club activity for our children. But before going, I thought, what if I bring along a night vision monocular and observe mother nature at night. Well, that gave an extra fun because it was our first time to observe mother nature clearly even during the dark. It was just so awesome! Even the children enjoyed it!
